Addressing a variety of disorders that can affect our ability to eat safely, communicate well and process information efficiently, our Speech-Language Pathologists evaluate and treat patients with swallowing disorders, cognitive problems, speech/language impairments, and voice disorders.
We offer the following specialized services:
- Clinical Swallow Assessment and Treatment
- Mouth and throat pain when swallowing
- Coughing when eating or drinking or experiencing a sensation of food or liquids sticking in the throat during meals.
- Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBS)
- An X-ray video is taken while the patient swallows different consistencies of food and liquids that contain barium as a contrast material. A speech-language pathologist administers the food and liquids during the study, then reviews and interprets the video and makes appropriate diet recommendations.
- Post-stroke/aphasia therapy program
- Voice Evaluation and Treatment
- Cognitive Evaluations and Treatment –
- Assessment of patients with traumatic or acquired brain injury, including concussion, tumors, strokes, and hypoxic/anoxic brain injury, and neurodegenerative diseases. Therapists perform informal and standardized testing of cognitive-linguistic functions including attention, memory, executive functioning, and speech/language.
- Lee-Silverman Voice Therapy (LSVT) Loud & Parkinson Voice Project – SPEAK OUT!
- Program targeting improved speech articulation and intelligibility in those patients with Parkinson’s disease.
- Neuro-Motor Electrical Stimulation (NMES) – AMPCARE
- ESP is a non-invasive, FDA-cleared treatment for dysphagia that combines the most effective electrical stimulation parameters with resistive exercises.
- The result is improved quality of muscle contraction and swallowing function.
