Emotional Support for Older Adults
You are not alone.
- This hospital-based outpatient program is for adults 65 and older who have depression or anxiety or are facing related challenges.
- Participation includes three days a week with small-group, family and individual counseling led by psychiatrists and therapists.
- You’ll have a personalized plan and practical resources you can use after the program.
You deserve care that uplifts and empowers.
Sometimes all it takes is someone who will listen.
We are a hospital-based outpatient program designed to support the emotional health of adults 65 and older experiencing depression, anxiety or other challenges sometimes associated with aging. Our goal is to make you feel less isolated, and to give you tools to navigate this stage of life.
You’ll come three times a week from 8:30 to 4:30 for group, family and individual counseling with our board-certified psychiatrists and licensed therapists.
These sessions will give you a greater understanding of yourself and the opportunity to meet other people facing similar challenges. You’ll hear how others have dealt with:
- Loss
- Financial strain
- Social isolation
- Ageism
During group therapy, you’ll engage in open conversation guided by one of our therapists and learn new skills to support your mental wellness. If they recommend any medication changes, they will contact your primary care provider.
At the end of the program, we’ll develop a personalized plan to help you feel better and leave you with coping tools that you can use in the years ahead.
We can help.
You’ll receive personalized support from a dedicated team of mental health professionals — including psychiatrists and counselors — who understand the unique emotional needs of older adults, including:
- Changes in physical or mental health
- Difficult life transitions
- Frequent feelings of sadness, anxiety or hopelessness
- Grief and loss
Changes in Physical or Mental Health
New health problems, pain, memory changes or side effects from medicines can affect mood and sleep. We’ll help you sort out your prescriptions and over-the-counter medications and connect you with care that helps.
Difficult Life Transitions
Retirement, moving or needing more help at home can be stressful. We offer tools to help you navigate change.
Feelings of Sadness, Anxiety or Hopelessness
Feeling down or anxious does not define you. Things can get better. We provide private, kind support.
Grief and Loss
The loss of loved ones, friends and our pets can feel too heavy to bear sometimes. We’ll connect you with other seniors overcoming similar challenges.
