Potential Facade

Chatham Hospital is preparing to become tobacco free next month.

To help announce the program to the community, approximately 25 employees joined together to “walk around the block” Friday, June 15.

Following the walk, employees each blew out candles to symbolize extinguishing cigarette smoke.

Chatham Hospital CEO Carol Straight said more events are planned to help announce the tobacco ban.

An ice cream social for employees is planned June 20.

“The social will give staff the opportunity to speak to me and ask me questions about cessation,” Straight said.

A ribbon cutting service is planned July 3. At the ribbon cutting, hospital employees who have successfully kicked the habit will be recognized.

Chatham Hospital will officially become tobacco free July 4.
