Physical Therapies

Our outpatient services rehabilitation at Chatham Hospital includes physical, occupational and speech therapies. Physical Therapy provides services to develop, maintain and/or restore proper movement patterns and functional mobility through the lifespan.

PT services and modalities include:

  • Therapeutic exercises
  • Post-operative rehabilitation recovery
  • Gait and balance training for instability
  • Neuromuscular re-education and manual therapy to increase postural awareness and range of motion
  • Patient education and development of home exercise programs to promote healing and continued wellness

Occupational Therapy

Enables patients to participate in meaningful activities of daily living (ADL) and return to normal active roles at home or work.

OT services include:

  • Modification of patient’s activities and environment to improve functionality
  • Activities of Daily LIving (ADL) and neuromuscular retraining
  • Upper extremity device fabrication
  • Home safety assessments
  • Cognitive, visual and perceptual skills retraining

Cardiac Rehabilitation

Recovering from a heart attack or other cardiac events may feel overwhelming, but our staff is here to help. Chatham Hospital offers a nationally certified program that can help improve your quality of life and prevent future heart problems.

Cardiac Rehab services include:

  • Physician prescribed and supervised exercise
  • Nutrition counseling with a Registered Dietician
  • Exercise Instruction with a Clinical Exercise Physiologist
  • Continuous telemetry ECG monitoring
  • Psychosocial assessment and stress management counseling
  • Patient education and development of a heart healthy lifestyle to prevent recurrent cardiac events and continued wellness

Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Patients with lung disease often struggle with the simplest daily tasks.  The Chatham Hospital Pulmonary Rehabilitation program can assist patients with various lung diseases to maximize and improve their lung function as well as improve their general fitness level.

Pulmonary Rehab services include:

  • Physician prescribed and supervised exercise
  • Nutrition counseling with a Registered Dietitian
  • Exercise Instruction with a Clinical Exercise Physiologist
  • Oxygen monitoring
  • Psychosocial assessment and stress management counseling
  • Breathing Exercises

Clinical Wellness Exercise Program

Chatham Hospital also offers a program for individuals who are trying to prevent cardiac disease and need guidance in starting an exercise program through the assistance of clinical staff.  All exercise sessions are supervised by a Clinical Exercise Physiologist or Registered Nurse. Graduates of the Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program may choose to continue their exercise program in clinical wellness program.

Clinical Wellness services include:

  • Initial assessment and individual exercise prescription
  • Exercise Instruction by a Clinical Exercise Physiologist
  • Monthly BP screenings
  • Educational wellness classes
  • Group support
